Just when we thought Young & Restless was going to zig, they appear to be zagging… in a completely unexpected direction. And even though it’s soapy… part of us just doesn’t want it.
Hints were dropping like anvils that Young & Restless was considering a Sally and Adam do-over down the road, and they still may be, but suddenly the getting-there part looks a whole lot different than we anticipated.
Instead of Chelsea being involved in the pot stirring, it appears that Sally’s best friend and partner, Audra, may now be an integral part of the mix as Sally and Billy’s relationship hits the rocks… and it’s bringing dread along with the anticipation.
It’s not just that we kinda want to see some good things happen for Sally, who lost Ava and Adam on the heels of a string of disappointing relationships before that, but we love her friendship with Audra. We also love seeing two strong women come into their own and successfully run a company together without men. Young & Restless pulling Audra toward Billy is a letdown in that respect.
On the other hand, it’s soapy. Audra’s only prospect, Noah, has left Genoa City, and she and Billy agreed that the deal with Adam for Newman Media was a bad idea. Now, the Young & Restless preview is teasing Audra as Billy’s confidante with Sally out of town visiting family.
Sally appears to return just as the latest little bonding session is taking place, but we can easily see a scenario developing where the always ambitious Audra will encourage Billy to fight for Chancellor, while Sally will strongly discourage it. It’s setting the stage for that downright shocking pivot of Billy getting involved with Audra down the road, which we didn’t see coming at all.
