Thus far, Bold & Beautiful has given Katie free rein to trash-talk and belittle Miss Dylan. But that’s about to change in a big way, come August 27. That’s the day soap-hopper Kelly Sullivan makes her debut as the young woman’s mom, Darcy. (Read what she has to say about the character.)
Frankly, we can’t wait to meet the force of nature, because we have a feeling she won’t take kindly to the way her daughter’s been treated by Will’s mother. We can see the scene now. “I’ve heard a lot about you,” Darcy tells Katie, “and I can’t say I like what I’ve heard.
“You mistrust my daughter because… what? Because you don’t know her?” she continues. “Let me tell you about Melissa. She was an honor-roll student from the time she was in preschool. We didn’t have much when she was growing up, but Melissa never complained. She didn’t even tell us that she was living out of her car.”
“Did she tell you that she’d moved herself into my son’s $3M beach house?” Katie interjects, thinking she’s gaining the upper hand. “Or did she leave that part out?”
Tellin’ It Like It Is
“When I got here, Melissa told me that your son had come to her rescue, yes,” Darcy says, adding, “He must have inherited his streak of compassion from his father.”
Katie has to laugh at that. Bill… compassionate? But she presses on. “Did Melissa tell you,” she asks, “that she put the moves on my son the very same day that he broke up with her best friend?”
“OK, first,” Darcy says, “I call her Melissa, you don’t. Full stop. Second, is this the same best friend who wanted Will to throw my daughter back out on the street? Because if it is, that’s no friend. And wasn’t this the third, fourth time this girl had dumped Will? She sounds like a real catch.”
“Will and Electra love each other,” Katie insists. “This is just a bump in the road. Or it would be if your daughter could keep her hands to herself.”
Them’s Fightin’ Words
“Are you really trying to slut-shame my daughter?” Darcy asks, appalled. “Ma’am, you might wanna come down off your high horse. See, I looked you up when Melissa told me how you’d treated her. You’re no vestal virgin. You got engaged to one of your sister’s husbands and married another one and fooled around with your own stepson.
“You really think you’re in any position to judge my daughter for going after what she wants?” she continues. “’Cause I sure as hell don’t.”
Katie’s ticked but keeps her anger in check. “Just keep your daughter away from my son,” she demands.
“I’ve got a better idea,” Darcy retorts. “You keep away from my daughter. Because if you say so much as an unkind word to her again, you’re gonna have a much bigger problem on your hands than ‘Oh no, a lovely girl not only likes but actually shows up for my son!’ Ya feel me?”
Katie shrugs off the threat, but you can tell that Darcy has gotten under her skin. Dylan, she’s easy to intimidate. But her mother? She’s another story altogether — one we’re dying to watch get told.
