When you’re hot, you’re hot, and right now, it seems like Days of Our Lives has been part of the zeitgeist in a way it hasn’t been in ages. From Ryan Gosling’s fandom to John Oliver’s visit, not to mention Deidre Hall’s appearance on HBO’s Hacks and the Salem love on Prime’s Legally Blonde prequel, Elle — the pop culture world has been absolutely buzzing about Days of Our Lives.
At the moment, while we wait to hear when Gosling will visit the set, we’re getting to enjoy Oliver’s Devlin St. John going head-to-head with EJ. Of course, whether he’ll survive the encounter or not is anyone’s guess, but even if he doesn’t, we have a feeling Oliver would be willing to make a triumphant comeback someday as Devlin’s surprise twin. The best thing about this appearance? For the most part, fans have been enjoying it for exactly what it is!
Guest stars have been a longtime staple of daytime TV, and while stunt casting can be hit or miss, it’s difficult to complain when it brings attention to a beloved soap. So we figure that with all the attention the show has been receiving, now is the perfect time to contact other big-name fans of Salem and invite them to stop by! That’s exactly what Marlena’s portrayer did when she spoke with PauseRewind.
“You know, Julia Roberts is a very big fan,” she noted with a smile. “And I think she must have some downtime somewhere. So, Julia, come on by babe!”
“I’ve met her several times at award shows, and she was just sort of gobstruck,” Hall went on to share. And she clarified, “It wasn’t me, it was my show! People behind me were on my show! So, she’s so cute.”
You know what? If anyone can make it happen, it’s Hall! The invitation worked last time, and it wasn’t that long ago that the late, great Drake Hogestyn worked his magic to bring Dick Van Dyke onto the show as John’s long-lost father.
And it’s certainly not all that far-fetched, since Roberts’ brother had his own daytime run when Eric Roberts played The Young and the Restless‘ Vance a number of years ago. In other words: Who knows what’s coming next?
