The Search for Lexie Begins As Theo Realizes His Mom’s In Serious Trouble and Johnny Discovers the Harsh Truth

Picking up from Friday, Stephanie tells Alex that he is absolutely not moving into Joy’s room while she’s in the hospital. Stephanie is moving out. It’s his apartment, not hers, so he takes it — for Kelsey’s sake! And no, she’s not leaving him, just the apartment. She’ll talk to Jada, who conveniently lives across the hall. She also gets in a dig or two at Joy while she’s at it.

Will Paulina Celebrate Abe’s Birthday?

Paulina brought Trey home to Chanel now that he’s feeling better, so Chanel puts him down for a nap. She’s feeling good and three weeks from today, she’s scheduled for her induction. New grandbaby, here we come! But then it’s more chemo and more surgery — once the baby is safe.

Paulina brings up Abe’s birthday, wondering if he’s celebrating tomorrow. Chanel offers to check with Theo, but Paulina isn’t even sure she wants to be part of his birthday. But she bought a personalized gift months ago.

Chanel Has a Warning for Alex

Alex and Chanel are both pushing their kids through the square where he explains what’s happening with Joy — at least a little. (What is happening with Joy? Find out here!) “Sorry to hear that,” Chanel says, not sounding at all sorry. Chanel offers to help with Kelsey, pregnancy and cancer and all, and she bowls over his protestations, saying she’s happy to watch the kid if he’s in a pinch.

They marvel at how far they’ve come from their “adventurous days.” Also, Chanel warns, “Do not let Joy mess with your marriage the way she tried to mess with mine.”

Only Jada Can Help

Lani drops in to chat with Jada in the commissioner’s office, but it’s not a social visit. She tells Jada what’s going on with Lexie and Salem’s top cop agrees it’s strange, but not grounds for police. But… it’s enough to warrant a welfare check on Lexie.

That taken care of, Jada heads home, only for Stephanie to drop in. When Stephanie lays her problems on her bestie, Jada insists she take the guest room. After all, Shawn’s just flat-out living there, sleeping in her room and all. (What a lovely, never-seen relationship they’ve got going.) Stephanie’s grateful, because this might be the only way to save her marriage! (Well, that’s a red flag if we ever heard one.)

Theo Realizes Something’s Wrong With Lexie

Theo leaves a voicemail for his mom as Johnny shows up at work for once. But business has to wait as Theo doesn’t think she’s in South Africa at all. There was no international dial tone when he called, but there is one when he leaves a voicemail for his grandmother.

Lani stops by just then to tell Theo there’s no record of Lexie boarding a commercial flight. Also, Chad gave Leo the DiMera jet to find Gwen. Lexie and Kristen missing at the same time? That’s not a coincidence! Johnny goes to talk to his dad, leaving Theo to spiral. Lani’s theory — that there’s a problem with the drug and Lexie’s ailing — doesn’t help, but she tells Theo to focus on getting Lexie home.

Will EJ Come Clean?

EJ’s coughing away when Cat visits him at home (Wait, is this a real illness, after all?) with paperwork on the state’s case against him. He doesn’t have much energy, though, since he’s fighting off a cold. Cat must sense weakness because she tells him she saw the panel closing last night: What’s going on?

EJ tries shrugging it off as he coughs, but Cat keeps pushing (well, encouraging) until he seems close to saying something. But Johnny shows up before they can get any farther and asks for time alone with his dad. “Tell me about Lexie’s disappearance,” Johnny jumps right to the point!

EJ takes a breath, coughs a bit and lays out what happened — including that Lexie’s dying and down in the tunnels. As Johnny takes it in, Cat’s outside listening — on the far wall? (Did we just see what’s through the room to the left?) We did! She peeks around the corner!

In the Show’s Final Moments

Stephanie opens up to Jada about her fear that if Alex ever had to choose between her and his daughter, she wouldn’t stand a chance.

EJ’s heartbroken, but, he says, there’s a certain relief in knowing that she can’t tell anyone what she knows. Johnny’s disgusted and goes to run out. EJ stops him to say he made her a promise and this is what she wants. Once he’s gone, Cat comes back downstairs, finds that EJ’s burning up, confirms Rolf isn’t there to look after him, so she helps him into bed.

Johnny gets back to Theo and Lani, but he doesn’t tell them what he learned.
