Somebody please explain IVF to Bold & Beautiful’s Daphne, and the sooner, the better. She’s been so thrown off balance by learning that premature menopause will prevent her from conceiving a child with husband Carter that she’s decided to pack her bags and return home to France.
Though she vowed “till death do us part,” what she told her better half in the August 13 episode (recapped in full here) was, “I cannot breathe. I need to get out of here… I need to go back to Paris. I’m leaving.”
Is Carter Losing Another Love Interest?
Carter has vowed that he and Daphne will overcome this obstacle together. There are, after all, alternatives to having a baby the old-fashioned way. But Daphne doesn’t want to hear about any of them. “If you stay with me,” she sobbed, “you don’t get to be a father.”
We can only assume — or at least hope — that “the nose” isn’t really leaving. The radiant Murielle Hilaire hasn’t even been on the show for two years yet. And at some point — fingers crossed — Daphne has to return to form and go back to being the mischievous pot-stirrer she was when we first met her, wouldn’t you think? Perhaps to deal with poison Ivy when she returns?
Will Daphne Listen to Reason?
In Friday’s episode (previewed here), Carter refuses to accept au revoir as an answer. Whether or not his life includes children, he wants Daphne in it. He’s searched high (Quinn), low (Katie) and everywhere in between (Zoe, Paris, Maya, etc.) to find his soulmate, and there’s no way he’s going to let Mrs. Walton leave without a heartfelt fight.
