At Crimson Lights, Kyle spots Victoria and asks her about Nick… and whether she’s OK. Victoria agrees to sit with her “friend” and talk. The conversation doesn’t exactly flow.
Finally, Victoria thanks Kyle for checking in on her this morning. They talk about Nick, and Victoria wishes she could take away her brother’s pain and cravings. Kyle is sorry for everything she’s going through. She tells him that, for an Abbott, he’s a pretty good friend. He’ll take that as high praise. She nudges, “You should.”
Suddenly, Claire appears with Holden and gives her mother and Kyle a funny look. Awkward greetings follow, and Holden wanders off to order drinks. Victoria explains to Claire that she was updating Kyle on Nick. Claire asks about Jack, and Kyle admits that some business matters have come up and taken attention away from his recovery.
Holden returns with Claire’s drink, and they head to the patio. Victoria and Kyle do a post-mortem on the interaction, and Kyle admits he’s accustomed to seeing her with Holden and that they’re past the tension and animosity. He wonders how she feels about Claire dating Holden.
On the patio, Claire admits she was surprised to see her mom with Kyle. Holden found the whole thing a little strange. The conversation turns to his day, and Holden updates her on Billy’s claims regarding Chancellor. Lily and Cane have basically told him they’re at war. He’s happy to help his sister, but isn’t sure where that will leave him if she loses the company.
Inside, Victoria tells Kyle that she’s changed her opinion of Holden since learning he’s Malcolm and Stephanie’s son. Kyle reiterates that he’s moved on from her daughter. Victoria shrugs that Holden makes Claire happy; they’ll see where things go.
Outside, Holden tells Claire that Lily is hell-bent on fighting Billy. He admits he’s tired of the chaos. Claire points out that Cane has asked him to do things that Lily wouldn’t. Holden simply wants a regular job without drama. Claire suggests he talk to Lily about his feelings.
Danny’s Big Day
At The Shadow Room, Lauren and Michael marvel at the décor and wonder why they’re there. Christine comes in and interrupts them. She also received a summons from her husband. Danny appears and wants them all to hear his announcement.
First, Danny is working on his final song for his new album and will give them a preview. He performs All I Need Is You on the keyboard, singing to Cricket. Once the energetic performance ends, Michael and Lauren banter as he tries crooning to her too. She tells the lawyer he’s out of order. Cricket asks about Danny’s announcement. He’s purchased half of Noah’s interest in the establishment. “Nice, huh!”
Michael and Lauren are thrilled that he’ll be sticking around. Danny is really excited about it. Christine snarks that Daniel will be happy to have a parent in town whom he can trust not to… cause trouble. Loyal to a fault, Lauren says Phyllis is devastated not to have him in her son’s life. Danny hopes they can find a way to move forward. Christine scoffs, but Danny remains optimistic and they toast.
Cane vs. Billy
At Jabot, Ashley and Traci have left Jack and Cane to discuss Chancellor. Jack admits that it could belong to the Abbotts. His sisters will try to convince Billy to come there and discuss it, but right now, they should lay their cards on the table.
Cane is concerned that Billy is ready to burn everything down. They go over the ins and outs of the debt owed and apparently never paid. Cane wonders if Jack will really pursue Chancellor and feed Billy’s obsession with the company. He rants about Billy putting Lily through this… and him. Jack argues that it’s not personal. They do have a case. Cane warns that if Billy doesn’t back off, he’ll help Lily fight and he’ll make it ugly.
As Cane reiterates that he’s fighting to win, Billy strolls in and suggests, “How about you don’t fight at all?” Jack thanks his brother for joining them. They’re looking for a solution. Billy tells Cane the only thing he and Lily need to do is be reasonable. Chancellor belongs to the Abbotts. Ashby is sure his case is flimsy at best. Billy tells Cane he’ll throw him a bone if he helps with the rightful transfer of power.
Cane doesn’t need a handout and warns that if Billy goes after Lily, he’ll have to come through him. They argue over how she acquired it. Ashby hollers, “Stop with the God complex, Billy.” He wants to take over the world. Billy doesn’t want the world, he just wants Chancellor. Jack barks, “Why?” Disgusted with his brother, Billy walks out.
Taking Sides
Billy walks into Crimson Lights past Claire and Holden on the patio. Inside, Victoria asks him if everything is OK. He brushes her off and goes back outside to speak to Holden. Victoria tells Kyle she has a bad feeling. Billy tells Holden that Chancellor is his now and he’d like to keep him on board… But he’ll have to pick a side. When he warns that siding with his sister would be a mistake, Claire screws up her face, shooting warning looks at Holden.
The Final Scenes
At the Shadow Room, Lauren and Michael congratulate Danny on all of his news, as he teases his old singing partner about performing. When the couple leaves, Danny and Cricket make out. She wants him to show her the hidden VIP area, so he leads her away.
At Crimson Lights, Victoria wonders to Kyle what Billy wants with Holden. Kyle gently suggests that she stay out of it. She asks if there’s going to be trouble. Kyle has learned that when it comes to Billy, it’s best to stay out of the way… so he doesn’t get caught in the fallout.
On the patio, Holden doesn’t appreciate the position Billy is putting him in: he works for Lily and Cane. Billy says Chancellor is his and Holden has a bright future there. Holden asks why he cares unless he’s seeking an ally.
Billy tells Holden that if he appeases his sister, he’ll end up with nothing. If he works with him, even he could end up running his own company. Claire smirks and just about turns herself inside-out to keep from interjecting.
At Jabot, Cane thanks Jack for trying with Billy. Jack declares that he won’t get in the middle of this. It’s Billy’s fight to win or lose. Cane and Lily can do what they need to, but, “Stay away from my family’s name and my father’s reputation, or you will deal with me.”
