Just when Young & Restless’ Winters family members had chosen their paths in life, and the Abbotts and Newmans had called a truce, along comes Billy to open a Pandora’s Box that sets the stage for an epic battle that will pull in all of the core families… and threaten friendships and couples to boot.
It was difficult to take Billy’s ramblings seriously about a deep, dark secret hidden among the yellowing documents of Chancellor’s early days. After all, he’s prone not only to obsessing over the company, but also to catastrophizing when it comes to his rocky relationship with his mother, Jill.
In fact, it caught us almost completely off guard when Billy actually uncovered the dirt after a week of digging in the trenches… or at least through the files in his living room. It’s a good thing Sally was away visiting family, or those dusty old documents would have been tossed out before he ever got to the truth. As it turns out, he discovered a genuine bombshell. Or perhaps we should call it a landmine.
It was with feverish intensity and excitement that Billy cornered Jack and Kyle to deliver his mic-drop moment: their late patriarch, John Abbott, had bailed out Philip Chancellor when the company was about to go bankrupt. There was no evidence that the debt had been repaid by the twenty-year deadline, so Chancellor Industries belongs to the Abbotts.
Given that Lily currently owns Chancellor, having been handed it by Victor, and Cane is running the place, the Abbotts’ claim is going to cause instant upheaval. Saying Lily wouldn’t want Billy to have it is an understatement given their history, Cane will have no say, but will have to choose a side, and once Victor gets wind of this, the truce with the Abbotts will be null and void.
Nikki will get drawn in as well. She has her own thoughts on Chancellor given that it is Katherine’s legacy, and she may once again have to choose sides between Jack and Victor. Devon, as Katherine’s grandson, will also have plenty to say, we’re certain, and isn’t a Billy fan either.
One possibility is the Winters and Newmans standing together against the Abbotts, but will they have a legal leg to stand on? Pandemonium will ensue, as always, if Victor doesn’t get his way, so it’s safe to assume shifty moves will be made to thwart any attempt at a power grab by Jack and Billy.
Kyle and Victoria, who aren’t a couple but certainly appear to be headed that way, will get pulled into this family battle, as will Claire and Holden, although they may end up on the same side. We’re not kidding when we say that this is going to be a battle royal, a royal rumble, a triple threat, even, given all three families will be sucked into the fight.
