Chelsea tracks down Billy on the Crimson Lights patio. After talking about his exciting baby news, she asks whether the rumors about Chancellor are true. He resists answering, unwilling to give Adam even a crumb. Chelsea suggests he talk to her if he wants to control the narrative.
She assures him that she will keep everything factual. He’s not about to let Adam and Victor get the story. They bicker about trust. He’ll trust Sally over her and insists that his business life is off-limits. He storms out.
Cane Has Dirt for Victor
Cane joins Victor at the ranch and tells him that Billy is after Chancellor again. This time, the law may be on his side. Adam is called over to join them, unhappy to see Cane there. Ashby explains what Billy told him. It corroborates what Adam has heard, but this is all coming out of nowhere for Victor. He’s not about to let Billy get his hands on the company he gave Lily. “Not gonna happen!” he insists. When Cane explains that Jill appears to have known all along but kept it from her son, Adam gets a laugh out of it. His father orders him to use Newman Media to burn Billy down to the ground.
Left alone, Adam asks Cane for more details that he can finesse. Ashby makes him promise that none of this will negatively impact Lily.
Later, Chelsea arrives and tells Adam that Billy wasn’t talking. Adam says it doesn’t matter. He already has another source. She’s surprised to learn it’s Cane.
Lily Offers Jack a Payoff
Lily and Jack meet at Jabot. She knows he can’t keep his brother in line because no one can. He confirms that the loan appears to be legitimate. The financial records back it up and show that it was never repaid. Nonetheless, Jack wants to stay out of it. Lily doesn’t see how he can since this concerns John.
Jack repeats that the fight will be expensive, even if his brother is legally in the right. She suggests they avoid that by striking a deal right now. Lily offers to repay the loan with interest. Then they can wipe the debt clean. This would be a way to honor his father and Katherine. Jack agrees to consider it, but reminds her of what this could do to his family. That means more than a company.
She leaves as Kyle arrives. His father explains that Lily offered them a deal, but taking it would put him in Jill’s position; Billy would cut him out of his life.
Nick Get a Visitor
Sharon visits Nick at rehab. He can hardly recognize himself, but she says he cleans up well. They sit and talk about how long recovery is taking. He thought he’d be further along because of Nikki’s example. They discuss his limited control and how they have always been there for one another and seen each other at their worst. Nick guesses she’s there to tell him something. He assumes she doesn’t want to, so it must be about Matt Clark. She admits he’s coming to see her, desperate to be absolved and seemingly haunted by everything he’s done. This infuriates Nick. He’s not about to forgive that guy. When he gets out, he doesn’t want to see any version of him.
They turn to discussing his care team and how difficult the work is. He mentions that Marie from the motel was there. Nick admits it was a “full circle” moment and he’ll never forget her. They return to venting about how unfair it is that Matt selfishly remains in town while Noah was driven out. Nick only wants to leave to protect his family. Sharon reminds him that he can’t solve the world’s problems. He needs to concentrate on solving his own.
The Final Scenes
At rehab, Sharon repeats to Nick that he can’t be everyone’s hero. There’s not much else he knows how to do. They speculate about why he’s like this and try to joke around. When Nick gets out, he wants to take her and the kids to California. That sounds perfect to both of them.
Back at the ranch, Chelsea complains to Adam about how Victor is already tainting their journalism. Adam is more worried about what will happen if Billy is actually right for once and his pops loses out.
Victor walks into the Athletic Club and runs into a cocky Billy at the bar. Billy brags and Victor threatens, making it clear that there’s no way he’ll let him get Chancellor. Billy only wishes the revelation had landed in his lap earlier so he could have pried the company away from Victor. After the Newman plods off, Lily walks in and watches as Billy stalks over to Victor’s table to needle him some more. Smiling, Victor dismisses him as a clown. Billy heads for the door, running into Cane and Lily on the way. He realizes Cane went to Victor and tells him that it’s failed. Smirking, he adds that he feels like he has a winning hand.
